Nepal is land blocked country therefore
does not have any sea port and all movements take place thru Calcutta / Haldia
port.
The Calcutta port of India is about 1150 km from Nepalese border.
However, some shipping lines have their container depots at Nepal |
|
| |
|
|
| |
All import cargoes bound for Nepal are
examined & passed from Calcutta under ctd [customs transhipment document].
At the Nepal entry border- raxual / birgunj, again cargo is appraised and duty
is realised at Nepal entry border. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Excepting for LCL & o.d.c. / break bulk
cargoes - all fcl cargoes are carted out from Calcutta by trailors to birgunj &
de-stuffed there – for onward carriage by trucks to ultimate destination in
Nepal. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Since most of the Nepal locations are
situated in hilly regions – logistic constraints are there in adverse weather
conditions. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
The prime concern in Nepal cargo is
availability of original documents in time and which results in enormous port
rent, ground rent and container detentions. Therefore, it is imperative that a
free time of 21 days is secured and documents secured prior to arrival of cargo
at disport. |
